What's Up Wednesday

Hey y'all! As of yesterday afternoon, I'm officially on Thanksgiving Break, which means I'm finally getting a chance to do a little blogging. I'm so excited to spend the next few days with my family. Today I'm linking up with Shay for What's Up Wednesday, and as usual, we're answering these questions...

Monday: Chicken Parmesan
Tuesday: Pizza
Wednesday: Baked fish with veggies
Thursday, Friday, Saturday: We'll be eating wayyy too much Thanksgiving food and I couldn't be more excited.

We went on a little weekend trip to the Smoky Mountains this past weekend and had the best time. We hiked, took in the gorgeous views, shopped till we dropped, enjoyed the Christmas decor, and ate way too many pancakes for breakfast. It was pretty perfect and we were not ready to come home. ;)

I mean how gorgeous is this view from the top of the mountains?

ALL things Christmas. I love how cozy our home feels with all of our Christmas decorations out, and I can't get enough of all the Holiday scents. I love everything about this time of year.

I've been soaking up all of the long weekends I've gotten here lately. So far, I've had a 3-day weekend every weekend in November, and now a 5-day weekend for Thanksgiving. I'm not going to know what to do when I go back to a full work-week.

My Masters classes have been consuming a ton of my time, which is part of the reason that I haven't been blogging as much as I'd like to.

And like I mentioned above, we took a much needed trip last weekend.

Nothing at the moment.

School, School, and more School.

Thanksgiving, of course. And all the fun that comes with the Holiday Season.

We're on Season 4 of Chicago Fire and can't get enough.

I finally finished this book a few weeks ago and it was so good y'all. It took me a little while to get into it because I wasn't making the time to read, but I sat down one Saturday and finished the last 3/4 of the book that day.

Give me all the Christmas music. I've had this station along with a few other Christmas stations from Pandora on repeat.

I'm still loving my flare jeans.

My vests have been on repeat this month as well...
I got this Patagonia vest for Christmas last year and have been wearing it non-stop. Although I didn't get a picture, it was perfect for our trip to the mountains last weekend.

I got this Monogrammed Herringbone vest from Marley Lilly a few years ago and still get so much wear out of it. It's currently on sale if you're interested.

This is the one outfit picture I actually remembered to snap while we were in the Smoky's. You can find the sweater here and the vest here. Both are 50% right now, and under $20!

We have a couple Thanksgiving dinners this weekend with Chase's side of the family. I'm also hoping to get a majority of my Christmas shopping done.

We have SO much to look forward to next month. Chase and I started going to the Opryland Hotel in Nashville to eat, shop, and look at all the lights/decorations a few years ago and I look forward to it every year. We're also planning to visit a lights display or two again this year. Last year we went to Chad's Winter Wonderland, but I'm thinking we may go somewhere different this year. And of course we're looking forward to all of the time spent with family during this time of year.

I hope y'all have the BEST Thanksgiving!

What We've Been Up To

Happy Tuesday y'all! I'm heading back to school today after a much needed 3-day weekend. Last week was such a fun/busy week filled with our school's annual trick-or-treating night, class Halloween parties, club day for students, and then the aftermath of all the excitement from the beginning of the week. This teacher was WORN out after all the craziness from last week. Needless to say, a 3-day weekend couldn't have come at a more perfect time. It's crazy how an extra day off makes such a HUGE difference. I'm ready to take on this 4-day work week.

Here's a little look at what we've been up to lately...

Last Sunday Chase and I were in our friends' wedding. Unfortunately the only pictures I have are the ones that my MIL took that night.

We took advantage of the photo booth. ;)

Monday night our school hosted its annual Roar-O-Ween, the event is similar to a Fall Festival, except teachers stand in the hallways and hand out candy while students trick-or-treat, and students can go to the library and gym for bounce houses and games. My team and I had so much fun dressing up as "Social Butterflies."

I "stole" the next few pictures from my cousin and sister's snapchat stories Friday night...
Friday evening my sister and I headed to the Glow Green 5K for Kidney Disease Awareness, where we met my cousin, grandmother, and aunt. This entire event was put on for my Aunt who just underwent a kidney transplant a few weeks ago. We are SO thankful that they were able to find a donor for her.

I was thankful to have my sweet sister as my partner for my first 5K.

My aunt wasn't able to take part in the 5K since she's still recovering from her transplant, but she stuck around to see everyone pass through the finish line.

Saturday my SIL and I headed to TN to do a little shopping at the Red River Farms Fall Barn Sale. I didn't get any pictures, but we had the BEST time and spent way too much. When I got home Saturday afternoon I napped and then literally spent the rest of the night finishing up a book. Once I started reading I just couldn't put it down.

This was my view Sunday morning on our way to church. One of my absolute favorite parts of fall. The leaves were gorgeous, the picture really doesn't do them justice.

And then when we stopped by Starbucks before church, I got a little too excited about my Christmas Cup. It took everything I had in me not to come home and put my tree up on Sunday night. It WILL be going up next weekend though. ;)

We had a little brunch at one of our favorite spots. I came home and napped, and we spent the rest of our Sunday watching Chicago Fire. Y'all we are OBSESSED with this show. I have to admit that it felt pretty darn good going to bed Sunday night and not having to set my alarm.

I slept in a a little on Monday morning, and ended up getting up around the time Chase left for work. Monday was gloomy and cold so I spent the day cuddled up on the couch catching up on some of my shows. I did a little laundry, got dinner started in the slow-cooker, napped, and started a new book. It was a pretty perfect day.

I'm super thankful for a slow weekend, full of rest. Maybe even a little too much rest, considering I napped every.single.day. I'm not even ashamed. ;)

What's Up Wednesday

Happy Wednesday y'all! How is it possible that this is the last Wednesday of October??? This month has absolutely flown by! Today I'm linking up with Shay and we're answering these questions....

Monday - Guacamole Burgers
Tuesday - Fish Tacos
Wednesday - Chicken Tortilla Soup
Thursday - We are going to a rehearsal dinner for a wedding that we are both in this weekend.
Friday - We will probably eat out Friday night

Since we have a trip to Gatlinburg planned here in a few weeks I've been reminiscing about all of our previous trip to the mountains and making a list of everything we want to do/see this time around.

Y'all! My SIL started selling Senegence products and I can't get enough. I've never been a lipstick person, but had been really wanting to try Lipsense out after hearing so much about it here lately. As soon as my SIL signed up I ordered a starter set from her and I'm seriously obsessed. I went a little crazy and ordered all of their skincare products too, so I'll have to let y'all know how I like those after I've used them for a month or so.

We've been doing all thing Fall-related around here.
We've made a few trips to the orchard.

I've been taking advantage of all things pumpkin.

I went haunted housing with some of my girls last weekend.

And we've been spending nights out by the fire.

I'm not dreading anything at the moment.

I've been working on all things school related...lesson plans, report cards, and parent-teacher conferences. I also started my first class for my Masters Degree so that's taking up a lot of my time as well.

I'm excited about all the Halloween festivities coming up this weekend and next week.

We started watching Chicago Fire a few weeks ago and we are HOOKED. We finished Chicago PD over the summer and watched a few shows in between, but we love how the two shows are connected.

And of course, I've also been watching Grey's...

And This Is Us.

I started reading See Me over fall break a few weeks ago and am still working on it. It's great so far, I just haven't been making the time to read like I had planned.

I've been listening my usual stations on Pandora.

I've been wearing out my flare jeans here lately. I wore them to church on Sunday with the cutest  cold shoulder top and booties.

And again...

My sweet little cousin has her 4th birthday party this week so Chase and I will be partying it up there on Saturday. ;) And then we are both in a wedding on Sunday.

Oh goodness... There is SO much that I'm looking forward to in November. We have a little get-away to the Smokey Mountains planned with my SIL in a few weeks, we'll celebrate both my brother and sister's birthdays, and we're extra excited for Thanksgiving. :)

Not much is new around here.

That's is for today y'all!

Life Lately

Happy Monday y'all! I say it almost every Monday, but how is the weekend already over? This week at school we are kicking off Red Ribbon Week so we have a lot of fun "spirit" type days planned for our kids. These types of days are always the ones that I look back on and remember from when I was in school, and it's so much fun to be able to participate in all the festivities with my sweet students.

One of my goals this month was to blog at least three days a week and I've been doing good to get in one post a week. October has been such a busy month at school, and I started my first Masters class last week so it's just been a crazy time around here. I'm excited to get my Masters Degree started, but it has definitely been a little bit overwhelming. Blogging is usually put on the back burner when I have a lot going on, and I always feel so guilty for not posting like I had planned to. I'm trying my best to plan ahead a little better and I'm hoping I can back on track this week.

Since it's been a while I'm sharing a little about what we've been up to here lately...

Last weekend I marked Haunted Housing off of my Fall Bucket List. Chase had to go to a bachelor party for one of his friends and I headed to a local Haunted House with some of my girls. We had someone take a picture of us and this was the best we got.

We started the weekend out right with a little Hibachi.

My sister and I went to the park to walk on some trails this past week and there were so many scarecrow displays set up throughout the trail. It was SO neat.

And a little creepy...

Lesson planning is always better with a bowl of candy corn by your side. ;)

I stayed in my PJs wayyy to long on Saturday and it was perfect. I drank my coffee, did some online shopping, and caught up on all the shows that I missed last week.

Saturday night we went to my SIL's  house for dinner and spent some time out by the fire. It's finally starting to feel like fall around here and the weather Saturday night was perfect for sitting by the fire.

My SIL started selling LipSense and we tried out some new colors on Saturday. I am obsessed with this stuff. This was my lipstick at the end of the night, AFTER eating dinner and s'mores.

Sunday consisted of church with this guy and lunch with my sister. I took my traditional Sunday nap when we got home that afternoon...

And made this yummy and easy s'mores dessert when I woke up.

The rest of my day consisted of blogging, lesson planning, doing a few things for my class, and watching Chicago Fire with Chase.

I hope y'all have the BEST week!

Day in the Life

Happy Tuesday y'all! I meant to link up with Andrea last Tuesday for Show and Tell Tuesday and ended up forgetting to document my day on Monday. Last week was our first week back after fall break and it was a little crazy, but I actually remembered to document my day last Wednesday thanks to the reminders I had set all day on my phone. :)

Today I'm sharing a little look into what a typical day looks like around here...

I usually get up around 4-4:15, but I struggled big time last week and just couldn't stop hitting the snooze button. I got up between 4:40-4:50 most days last week.

I finished getting ready around 5:30 or so.

After getting ready, I headed to the kitchen to get my lunch together and make my coffee. I ended up leaving around 5:40 that morning.

I got to school around 6:15 and got right to work.

I finished putting up a few of my Halloween decorations. My kids LOVE this little area.

My kids got to school around 8 and we spent our morning doing a little whole group reading and math.

I have planning and lunch back-to-back from 10:45-12. I spent my planning making copies and grading a few assignments and then headed down the hall for lunch. All of the 3rd grade teachers eat lunch together everyday in one of the classrooms.

After lunch we had small group time, recess, and science and then it was time to load buses and head home.

After putting my students on their buses, I did a few things in my classroom, and headed home around 3:10.

I went home and changed into my gym clothes, and then headed to meet my sister at the gym. We worked out for about an hour and then headed home.

I was WORN OUT and still had to do some grading and things when I got home so I treated myself to some Starbucks. ;)

I got a Coconut Milk Caramel Mocchiato and it was just what I needed.

When I got home, Chase and I watched an episode of Chicago Fire.

And I ate some leftover jambalaya from the night before. I made it in the crock pot on Tuesday night and we ate on it for a few days. It was SO good and Whole 30 approved.

I snapped this picture at 9:16 right as we were headed to bed. This is actually late for us, we usually go to bed between 8-8:30. Notice all of my Day in the Life reminders that I had set so that I wouldn't forget to document my day. I have the WORST memory so this was really the only way that I could make myself remember to take pictures throughout the day. :)

I hope y'all have the BEST day!
