Weekend Recap

Hey y'all! Happy Monday. I can't believe the weekend is already over. We only have three more weeks of school until we get a week-long fall break and I'm looking forward to a little break. We had one of the BEST weekends that we've had in a long time camping with our family by the lake. Today I'm sharing a little recap with y'all.

Friday afternoon we headed to Barren River Lake to begin a weekend of camping at Godstock with my sister, her fiance, and my brother. Our church puts on an event every year at the lake called "Godstock." Basically, everyone brings all their camping gear or rents out a room at the lodge. You can spend time with your family or participate in different activities during the day and our church has worship service on Friday and Saturday night and a morning of baptisms on Sunday. I went with a friend a few years ago, but this was our very first time going as a family and we had the BEST time. I'm hoping this will be a tradition for us from now on. :)

We borrowed a camper from my sister's step-dad, and it was all set up and ready to go for us when we got to the campsite on Friday.

We unloaded and headed straight to Friday night worship service. After the service we roasted some hot dogs over the fire and pretty much went straight to bed, we were all pretty worn out.

We had a lazy morning/afternoon on Saturday. We played the longest game of Uno ever, napped...

And watched Matilda. I hadn't seen this movie in forever, but it was one of my faves when a was a little girl.

We enjoyed the gorgeous weather. It was in the mid-seventies all weekend and it was perfect. I just love this guy so much.

SO glad my little brother joined us.

I also loved the quality time spent with my sweet sister. :)

After Saturday night worship service we headed back to the camper for dinner. My sister's fiance grilled pork chops, hot dogs, and corn on the cob and we all hung out by the fire while waiting for dinner to get done.

And another, because it is RARE that we all get a picture together.

Just sitting by the fire enjoying the fall weather with my favorite guy.

We were up early on Sunday, and headed outside to make a few s'mores for breakfast. We got in a few rounds of Uno before getting ready to head to watch baptisms.

Headed to the lake to watch baptisms.

We had to get on last picture in our "Godstock" tees before heading out.

I'm SO thankful for a weekend spent with this guy. This was only our 2nd time camping together and we loved it. Chase has been talking about purchasing our own camper ever since we left. ;)

We got home around noon, unloaded all of our camping gear, showered, and got ready to head out again...
Jackson's Orchard is one of our FAVORITE places to visit once fall is here, and it was the perfect way to end our weekend.

I had an apple cider float and homemade apple pie, and it was amazing y'all.

We tried to go to Jackson's a few weeks ago and they were closed that Sunday, so we were super happy that we finally got our apple cider floats.

After living in yoga pants and tees all weekend it was nice to put on some "real" clothes.

After Jackson's, I napped, make chicken tacos and guac for dinner, and we watched a few episodes of Criminal Minds.

What's Up Wednesday

Hey y'all! Happy Wednesday! I can't believe that it's already the end of August and time for another What's Up Wednesday. This month has absolutely flown by! We're working on our 3rd full week of school and Fall is right around the corner so I'm a happy camper. Today I'm linking up with Shay and we're answering these questions...

Since school has started I've been taking advantage of my crock-pot.. I've been using it every Monday and we will eat left-overs on Tuesday and sometimes on Wednesdays too.
Monday: Slow-cooker pot-roast
Tuesday: Dinner out with family
Wednesday: Leftover pot-roast
Thursday: Spicy Chicken and Corn Tacos
Friday: We'll be eating out

I've been reminiscing about summertime for the past few weeks. While I'm happy to have a routine again and I'm loving my job and sweet kiddos, I always miss the carefree days of summer once it's over. Although I'm missing summer, I'm more than ready for Fall!

My job. I was having a rough week last week, and was extremely stressed and overwhelmed by some of the things going on at school, but on Friday morning a sweet little girl in my classroom brought me a gift-bag filled with all of my favorite candy and it completely turned my week around. No matter how stressful teaching can be at times, it's definitely one of the MOST rewarding things I've ever done and it's such a blessing to be able to teach some of the most precious kids.

We've been busier than usual around here since I started back to school so we've been soaking up all of our time together on the weekends.

I've applied to grad school and am planning to start on my Masters degree either this October or January. I told myself I would start as soon as I completed my first year of teaching this past May, but I've been putting it off all summer. I know I need to just start and get it over with, but I'm definitely NOT looking forward to it. The closer we get to October, the better January is sounding. ;)

For the past month or so I've been working on ALL the school stuff...lesson plans, grading papers, etc.

FALL...I can't even contain my excitement about the fact that fall is right around the corner. It's been getting a little cooler here (and by "cooler" I mean it's been in the low to mid-80's, which is very unusual for this time of the year), I've been burning fall candles for the past few weeks, and I'm bringing out all my fall decorations this weekend. Fall is by far my favorite season, I just love this time of the year SO much.

Chase and I have been watching Suits and can't get enough. We weren't sure what to watch next after finishing Chicago PD and stumbled upon Suits while scrolling through our fire stick. We hadn't heard of it before, but decided to try it and it's SO good y'all.

As usual, I'm listening to my favorite Pandora station on repeat.

I've been wearing all the floral patterns here lately.

This weekend is a THREE day weekend, and we are so excited. Friday I have plans for a little girls night with my bestie, Saturday I'm planning on decorating for fall and spending the day with Chase, Sunday we'll go to church and then we're going to my MIL's to hangout by the pool and grill out. Right now we don't have any plans for Monday, which is perfectly fine by me.

Oh goodness...there is so much that I'm looking forward in September. We are spending next weekend camping with my sister and her fiance at Godstock (an event our church hosts every year), we have a wedding and a wedding shower to attend, we're headed to Gatlinburg at the end of the month, and we have a week of fall break at the end of Sept. beginning of Oct. Most of all, I'm looking forward to cooler weather, and all things fall-related.

Weekend Recap

Happy Monday y'all! Why is it that each weekend seems to go by quicker than the last? This weekend flew by! As sad as I am to see the weekend go, I'm looking forward to a fun week at school, and then a 3-day weekend next weekend.

I started my weekend off on Friday with an evening at Hot Yoga with my sister. One of her friends was teaching a "restorative" class and it was literally so relaxing. After a really stressful week at school, it was exactly what I needed to start my weekend.

I had a slow Saturday morning and it was absolutely perfect. I did a little bible journaling, which I hadn't got to do in a while, did some cleaning, and watched a few episodes of Fixer-Upper before getting ready and going bridesmaids dress shopping with one of my friends.

Sunday morning we ended up sleeping a little later than usual, and missed church. We still had some errands to run though so we got ready and headed to town.

We had lunch at one of our favorite spots, did a little shopping at the mall, and got some grocery shopping done.

We hit up Starbucks before heading home..

I found this shirt at Target and couldn't pass it up. I'm a HUGE Harry Potter fan and this shirt is perfect. We're planning on going to Disney and Harry Potter World on Christmas Break and this shirt will be perfect for our trip.

Bath & Body Works had their candles on sale for $13.50 and I couldn't resist a new Fall scented candle. I'm planning to get all my fall decorations out next weekend, but a fall scented candle will do for now. ;)

When we got home from town we put groceries away, I spent some time looking through Pinterest and meal prepping, and we ended the night watching one of our favorite shows.

I hope y'all have the best week!

Friday Favorites

Happy happy Friday! This week was a stressful one filled with after school meetings, and lots of beginning of the year testing for my kiddos. Needless to say, I'm SO thankful that the weekend is here, and I'm already looking forward to a 3-day weekend next weekend. ;)

Today I'm linking up with Andrea, Erika, and Narci to share some of my favorites from this week.

How cute is this sweet shirt that my MIL surprised me with after my first week back to school? I can tell that it will be a FAVORITE of mine for our Friday jean days at school. :)

On Monday I shared a little look at what we've been up to here lately. You can read all about that here. Weekends with this guy are always a FAVORITE of mine...
We especially love our Sundays.

I've also been obsessed with any kind of floral pattern here lately and both of these tops are new FAVORITES of mine. I ordered them both online from Nordstrom Rack a few weeks ago at such a great price! Another blogger mentioned the website through her Instagram story so I checked it out and found so many cute tops on sale.

This top is another new FAVORITE, also from Nordstrom Rack. I paid less than $20 for it!

I had been dying to try out this Living Proof Dry Shampoo for a long time now and finally broke down and bought it about a month ago. I love it just as much as I had hoped. It's definitely my FAVORITE dry shampoo now.

On Wednesday I shared some of my FAVORITE work outfits on my What I Wore-Teacher Edition post. I'll be sharing some more of my "teacher outfits" next week as well, so be sure to check it out.

That's it for today y'all!
Have the BEST weekend!

What I Wore - Teacher Style Edition

Hey y'all! It's been a while since I've made any kind of fashion-related post and since school has started back I've been trying to do a better job of documenting my outfits each day. One of my favorite things to do on Sunday nights is pick out my clothes for the upcoming week and I love coming up with new outfit combinations. Today I thought I'd share a few of my favorite back-to-school looks for this week.

Y'all know that I love me some patterned Old Navy Pixie Pants. They are just SO comfy and are perfect for school. I found these on the clearance rack a few weeks ago for only $10! And I love a good chambray shirt that can be styled so many different ways. You can find a similar one here.

AND...I'm still obsessed with my leather cuff that I've mentioned many times before. I wear it almost daily.

It's kinda hard to tell, but my pants in this picture are navy (Pixie Pants, of course). I got my kimono last year at American Eagle and haven't wore it much, but it looked super cute styled with this plain white tee.

And patterned Pixie Pants again from this past spring.  You can find a pair of shoes similar to the ones I'm wearing in both this first picture and this picture here.

That's it for today!

Life Lately

Hey y'all, happy Monday! I can't believe the weekend is already over. I made it through my first FULL week of school last week, which is always a struggle. Getting used to my 4 am alarm when I've been sleeping in until 7:30 throughout the summer has been rough, but I'm hoping it will be a little easier this week. Other than that, I had an amazing first full week with my 3rd graders. My students are seriously the SWEETEST and I feel so blessed to be their teacher. I'm looking forward to week 2!

Today is going to be a little crazy because we are spending our school day participating in different "stations" set up throughout our school to celebrate the solar eclipse, and then we will be able to watch the eclipse as a school this afternoon. I'm super excited to experience this with my class.

Anyways..here's a little look at life lately...

Last weekend this guy and I had dinner with his side of the family, went canoeing, had a lazy Saturday afternoon, and spent our Sunday morning running errands after church.

I spent Sunday evening trying to do a little planning for the upcoming school week. #teacherlife

And made a delicious no-bake cookies and cream cheesecake. It was SO easy. I'll be sharing the recipe on the blog later this week.

Now that school has started back, I've started using my crock pot again. I think I had forgotten how much I love coming home to dinner being ready. It was a life-saver this past week on the days I had to stay late at school. I used this Cilantro Lime Chicken Pinterest recipe and used the chicken to make tacos/nachos.

How CUTE is this shirt that my mother-in-law surprised me with last week after my first two days of school? I wore it for jean day on Friday and am in love.

We had a lazy Friday evening and were in bed by 8:30. ;)

Saturday morning we headed to town to run some errands. I had to get my oil changed and we had to run to Target to pick up a few things. I can never go into Target and get only what is on my list. I ended up picking up a few things for my classroom, and a new swimsuit. They had all of their swimsuits on clearance so I just couldn't resist.

And...we had lunch at one of our favorite spots.

Yesterday we did what we do every Sunday morning..church, Starbucks, and errands.

And... we had brunch at our go-to after church lunch spot.

Sundays are our favorite. <3

I hope y'all have the BEST week!
