Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Picks

Hey yall! Last week I promised you that I would share some of my favorite picks from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Today I'm going to share some of the items that I purchased, along with a few other favorites that I thought of purchasing.

There was so much I wanted to buy that I just couldn't justify spending the money on... I LOVED all three pairs of booties, but I bought a few new pairs at the end of winter last year and just couldn't make myself buy any more right now. I have wanted a Clarisonic forever and haven't bought one, but I'm still thinking about it. I've never been big into wearing lipstick, but here lately I've been getting out of my comfort zone a little and trying some different colors. I think the neutral Mac lipsticks would be perfect for someone like me. Moroccan Oil is one of my favorite hair brands and the Shampoo set is such a good deal. I've heard a ton of great things about the candle set and think they would make great gifts. And I'm in need of a new hairdryer and this one has so many good reviews. I usually just go with a cheaper hairdryer, but they never last long and I feel like they damage my hair so I think it would be worth the money if it's as good as everyone says it is. :)

Thanks for stopping by today!

Weekend Recap

Happy Monday y'all! I had a busy Monday morning running errands and doing some shopping for my classroom so I'm getting a late start on my weekend recap. I can't believe the weekend is over and that this is my last full week of Summer. Next week we have Open House and I'll have to finish up some work in my classroom, and then students start back on August 10th. Although I'm sad to see summer come to an end, I'm excited to be starting a new school year.

My Friday morning started with a trip to school to work on my classroom. My mom came with me and I was so thankful for all of her help. I found out last week that I'll be teaching 3rd grade this year and I'm so excited to meet my sweet kiddos. My room is still a work in progress, but I plan to do a "classroom reveal" once it's finished.

Friday night I cooked an easy dinner, and Chase and I had a lazy night watching Suits. I had never heard of this series, but Chase found it on Amazon Prime and wanted to start it and it's actually really good.

Saturday morning we were up extra early to head to my mother-in-law's so that Chase and my SIL's husband could build her deck railing around her pool deck. My MIL took this picture of my SIL and I helping the boys out. I was glad we got there early enough to beat some of the heat. It has been SO hot and humid lately that it's miserable to be out in the heat unless you're in the pool.

I spent Saturday afternoon napping and doing a few things around the house while Chase did some chores outside. Saturday evening we had dinner with my sister and her fiancé, and then went to get snow cones for dessert. ;)

Sunday mornings with this guy are always the best. We always leave the house extra early so we can stop by Starbucks before church.

And then we usually have lunch and run a few errands before heading home. Yesterday we had lunch at Qdoba, which is one of our favorites.

When we got home from church Sunday afternoon, Chase helped me cut some plywood for a little DIY project I'm doing for school, and then we spent the rest of our Sunday being lazy because it was just too hot to be outside.

Have a good week y'all! Thanks for reading.

Summer Recipes

Hey y'all! I know I promised a recipe post for today and today was a little crazy so I'm just Now getting around to finishing up my post. Better than than never, right?

First up is the Sheet Pan Dinner I shared on yesterday's Life Lately Post. I've been this a few times lately and it has turned out so good. And it's SO easy.
What you need:
Italian Sausage
Shrimp
Veggies (I used carrots, potatoes, squash, and asparagus)
Italian Seasoming
Garlic Salt
Olive Oil

What to do:
Cut up sausage and veggies and spread out evenly on your baking sheet, drizzle with olive oil, add your seasonings (I don't measure, I usually just sprinkle both the Italian seasoning and garlic salt all over), and bake on 400 for 30 minutes (I usually take it out after about 15 and stir everything up). That's it! Like I said, so easy and so good!

These next two recipes are not mine, I found them on Pinterest and have linked the websites with both recipes. I've tried them both within the last few weeks and they were delicious!
I made this Grilled California Avocado Chicken this past Monday and it's a new favorite of ours. It was SO good. It's definitely going to be on our menu again very soon.

I've made this Squash Casserole  a few times here lately as a side dish and it was great! This is one of Chase's new favorites. It's the perfect summer recipe!

Life Lately

Hey y'all! It's been almost two weeks since I've written a blog post and I'm so glad to be back. Last week I picked up my school keys and went to a couple of Professional Development trainings and this week I'm heading to my classroom to start getting it ready for the school year. I seriously can't believe it's already time to start thinking about school again. While I'm excited for a new school year,  I'm still trying to soak up the last few weeks of summer break.

Today I'm sharing a little life lately with y'all...

I mentioned that I picked up my school keys last week. I'm at a new school this year and it happens to be a few minutes away from one of the cutest little towns with one of the best restaurants. My momma came with me to pick up my keys and then we headed to lunch at The Whistle Stop.

Seriously some of the best “home cooked” food there is. I see a lot of visits here in the future.

I've been trying my best to head to the gym at least 2 days a week. I usually head to the pool right after the gym

I made a sheet pan dinner with sausage, shrimp, and veggies last week and it was delicious.

I've been spending a lot of time with my SIL while we're both off work. Here we were waiting for Chase to finish up mowing the yard so we could head to the lake. Snapchat filters are always a fun way to pass time. ;)
We've been spending our weekends at the lake and we cant get enough.

And this past weekend we celebrated my father-in-law's birthday with a big family cookout.

On Monday I spent the day organizing our cabinets and cleaning out my closets.I hadn't organized our cabinets since last summer and it was getting BAD. I also got rid of 4 huge bags of clothes.
Here's a little "before" picture of the cabinet we keep a lot of our Tupperware and Pyrex in. There were lids everywhere and I couldn't find anything I needed.

And the “after” photo…SO much better!

I've also spent a little bit of time shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I've ordered a few things that I plan to share with y'all when it all comes in. This was my first year shopping the sale and now I'm hooked. It was so hard to limit myself to just a few things.

Tuesday was a busy day. I was up early to get "processed" for my new teaching position. I spent my afternoon working out with my mom, getting lunch at Panera, and dropping off some clothes at Plato Closet (I always take my name brand clothing to Plato's after cleaning out my closet to get a little extra cash).
I've been getting Panera's Southwest Chile Lime Ranch Salad with Chicken and it's SO good y'all.

That's it for today! I'll be back tomorrow sharing some of my favorite recipes from here lately.

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday y'all! Today I'm linking up with Andrea, Erika, and Narci to share some of my favorites from here lately. It's been a while since I've done a Friday Favorites so I have a lot to share today!
I finally finished working at our school's summer program last Friday so I am officially on summer break. It's crazy to think that it's already July, and there are only a few weeks left until I'll have to start getting my new classroom ready.
We spent our 4th of July weekend at the Lake with Chase's family. Lake days are always our FAVORITE.

My SIL and I had fun hanging out together with our boys.

Sunday after church we headed to the lake again.

And Sunday night we watched fireworks with my BIL, SIL, and some friends.

We had a rainy 4th of July on Tuesday so Chase and I had a lazy day at home watching Harry Potter movies. Lazy days and Harry Potter are our FAVORITE.

One of my FAVORITE days from this past week was a girls day in spent exploring Nashville with my SIL.

We finally got to visit Five Daughter's Bakery, and it was seriously the cutest.

Their donuts were definitely a FAVORITE of ours. I've been thinking about taking a trip to Nashville just for their donuts ever since. ;)

Hope y'all have a great weekend!

Girls Day Out in Nashville

Yesterday my SIL and I spent the day out in Nashville exploring the city. We had been planning on doing a girls day in Nashville for a while and were so excited to spend the day exploring. She just finished up beauty school and has the rest of July off until she starts her new job and since I'm officially on summer break, this week ended up being perfect.

Our morning started with breakfast at Five Daughter's Bakery. We'd both been wanting to try out their donuts for a while and were so excited to finally get to go.

The donuts did not disappoint.

After breakfast, we spent some time walking around 12th South.

There were so many pretty murals on the sides of the buildings on this street.

After 12th South, we went to the mall to do a little shopping. We did some damage in Sephora, and looked around at a few other places before heading to lunch.

We tried out The Pharmacy for a late lunch and it was SO good y'all. After lunch we were worn out so we headed home.

We had the BEST girls day.
